Welcome back to the Hot Pit Podcast! This week, we had a special guest, 13-year-old racing sensation Gavin Bolt from Kansas. Gavin shared his journey in racing and his remarkable achievements over recent weeks.

Getting Started in Racing

Gavin started racing at the young age of five, primarily in go-karts, thanks to his father’s connection with VP Racing Fuels. He reminisced about his early days, stating,

"I started racing go-karts when I was five or six. My dad owns VP Racing Fuels, so that helped a lot."

As he transitioned into micro sprints, he quickly made a name for himself, proving his talent on the track. Gavin recalled, "We decided we were gonna get a micro when I was nine," marking the beginning of his competitive journey.

A Weekend to Remember

Last weekend, Gavin had an exceptional performance at Sweet Springs, winning three features in one night. He described the exhilarating experience:

"It feels amazing, honestly. I only drove my non-wing car twice this year, so to get a non-wing A-main victory feels really good."

He shared the thrill of racing back-to-back features and the mental and physical preparation it takes:

"Honestly, it's a lot on my dad and me. When I ran four at Sweet Springs, I never got out of a car."

Despite the challenge, Gavin showed impressive resilience, stating that after the races, he simply needed to rest:
"I went and laid down in the trailer. I was so wore out."

Looking Ahead

When asked about his future in racing, Gavin expressed his aspirations to advance to late models and potentially race in the Xfinity series. He mentioned:

"My goal's probably to get to Xfinity. That's really where I wanna be."

As he plans his next steps, he's excited about upcoming races and continues to keep pushing himself to improve.
"I have faith that I can win a driller in restrictor," he shared, highlighting his competitive spirit.

Final Thoughts

It’s inspiring to see such a young talent with big dreams and the determination to achieve them. Gavin’s journey is just beginning, and we can’t wait to see where it takes him next.
